The Lake District Mountains |
Walk completed 24/06/1987 with Richard. The walk started with the rescuing of a sheep that had managed to trap one of its hind legs in a barbed wire fence. After the sheep had hobbled off we then followed the path that leaves Burtness Wood and runs parallel with Comb Beck for a short distance. Instead of following this path as it curves to the summit of High Stile we crossed the beck and climbed steeply up towards Sheepbone Buttress. From here we found our way via Sheepbone Rake to the top of High Crag and then to High Stile and Red Pike. This was a stunning climb with fabulous views. |
