04 07 2006 - Red Pike, Black Crag, and Pillar with Paul D

It was a very hot day, perhaps too hot for serious hill walking. The thunder storm the night before had at least cleared the air of the haziness we had experienced the previous day and visibility was good in all directions. We set off from Wasdale Head, sweating and straining our way up the steep path beside the scree to Dore Head. We had lunch on Red Pike, detoured around Scoat Fell (for reasons which are now beyond me - it must have been the sun!) and reached Pillar via Black Crag and Wind Gap. We descended via Black Sail Pass for pints and a superb steak and ale pie at the Wasdale Head Inn. It was another tremendous day's walk.
